Parmar varsity celebrates Ozone day
Aiming at creating awareness concerning harmful effects of ozone depletion in the atmosphere among students, department of environmental science of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, celebrated International Ozone day on its campus on Tuesday.

The varsity's club Save Protect and Conserve Environment (SPACE) of the department organised a lecture on 'Protection of ozone layer.
SK Bhardwaj, head of the department, stressed that in order to save people from harmful effects of ultraviolet radiations that were emitted by the depletion of ozone layer; there was an urgent need to reduce ozone depleting substances by taking remedial measures.
“Our urban areas due to use of vehicles are now contributing to ozone emissions in surrounding atmosphere, which is resulting photochemical smoke and impacting our health,” he added.
The department also organised a quiz competition and team led by Tanvi Kapoor, a PhD student stood first. A team led by Hukum Chand got the second position and a team led by Bhavika Sharma was third.
