An inspection of the hotel in February had revealed that the hotel was discharging untreated waste water. Though a show cause notice was issued, the hotel did not submit reply. Sealing orders were thereafter issued under directions from HSPCB chairman RR Jowel.

A team headed by Board official Sumit Amrohi sealed the hotel on Wednesday. "It is a violation of Section 24 and 25 of Water Act. We have also launched prosecution against the hotel in an environment court," said Amrohi.

Similar action is likely against other restaurants and hotels for discharging untreated waste water in Panchkula.

The hotel sealing would be revoked only if it gives an undertaking that water would be treated before discharge.
