Pungrain leads among govt agencies

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has so far procured 3.5% of the total 56 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy that has arrived in grain markets across Punjab so far. State agencies continue to dominate procurement, with Pungrain leading with a share of 31%.

Among the government agencies, Pungrain has procured 17 lakh MT (31%), followed by Markfed, 13 lakh MT (23.8%), Punsup, 12.17 lakh MT (22.5%), Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, 5.39 lakh MT (10%) and Punjab Agro, 5.24 lakh MT (9.6%).

Patiala leads among the districts in terms of crop arrivals, with 5.31 lakh MT purchased so far, followed by Ferozepur (5.3 lakh MT) and Ludhiana (5.16 lakh MT), a spokesman said.
