Punjab Assembly pays tributes to Delhi rape victim

The Punjab assembly on Tuesday paid tributes to the 23-year old Delhi gangrape victim, who died a fortnight after being raped on December 16 last year.

Her real name was not mentioned and she was referred to as Damini in the Vidhan Sabha resolution.

on Monday, Ram Singh, the prime accused in the December 16 gangrape of a 23-year-old girl, allegedly committed suicide in a high-security cell of Tihar Jail in Delhi.

The House, on being reminded by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, also paid homage to the 13 schoolchildren who died in a road accident near Nakodar (Jalandhar) on March 3. Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal led the members of the House in paying tributes.

The House also remembered legal luminary Hira Lal Sibal, father of union minister Kapil Sibal.
