Punjab releases 2nd installment of staff pay arrears

The Punjab government today released the second installment of 30% pay arrears for its employees from January 1, 2006, to July 31, 2009.

Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said in Chandigarh that all heads of departments, commissioners of divisions, district and sessions judges, deputy commissioners and registrar of Punjab and Haryana high court have been asked to promptly act in this regard.

He said that the second instalment, which is released, would be 30% of the total pay arrears and added that arrears were being released on the recommendation of Fifth Pay Commission.
