Road mishaps kill two in city

Road mishaps left two persons dead, while two sustained injuries, here on Thursday. In the first incident, Kulvir Singh, 26, was killed, while his friend, Manpreet Singh, was injured after their motorcycle slipped near the Sectors 15-16 dividing road.

Road mishaps left two persons dead, while two sustained injuries, here on Thursday. In the first incident, Kulvir Singh, 26, was killed, while his friend, Manpreet Singh, was injured after their motorcycle slipped near the Sectors 15-16 dividing road. The duo was rushed to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, Kulvir succumbed to his injuries.

Later, Suraj Prakash Malhotra, 70, of Zirakpur died, and his wife, Kishan Malhotra, suffered injuries after a rashly driven car rammed into their scooter near the Sectors 33-20 roundabout.

The victims were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, where Suraj was declared brought dead.

A case under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
