St John’s-26, GNPS-36 register big victories

Hardik Manchanda scored a quick-fire unbeaten 51 off 42 balls to help St John’s School, Sector 26, inflict a big 82-run defeat over Ajit Karam Singh International Public School, Sector 41, in the under-14 inter-school cricket tournament at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36,on Wednesday.
Batting first, St John’s School made 137 for the loss of five wickets in the given 20 overs.
Apart from Hardik, Paritosh Bhatt was the other notable scorer with 26 runs off 33 balls.
For AKSIPS-41, Gurkamar was the pick of the bowlers. He took three wickets for 33 runs.
Chasing the target, AKSIPS were all out for 55 runs in 15.3 overs. Puneet was the top scorer with 18 runs of 28 balls. For winners, Ratish Thakur was the pick of the bowlers. He snared four wickets for 13 runs.
Paritosh took one wicket for one run.
In the second match, hosts GNPS-36 defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 32, by 158 runs.
Batting first, GNPS scored 184 runs for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs. Arjun Azad led the batting with a fluent 62 runs off 45 balls.
He was ably supported by Nipun Sharda, who made unbeaten 55 off 35 balls. Yuvraj Rai made 12 runs off 18 balls. Ankit took one wicket for 15 runs for GMSSS-32.
Chasing a stiff target, GMSSS-32 were all out for 26 runs in 9.3 overs. Arjun Azad was the pick of the bowlers for the winners taking four wickets for 14 runs.
He was ably supported by Manveer Singh who took three wickets for zero runs, while Arshnoor also claimed two wickets for zero runs.
In the third match, GMSSS19 defeated Kids-R-Kids by 175 runs.
Batting first, GMSSS-19 scored 181 runs in 20 overs. Amit scored 78 runs and was the highest scorer for the team.
Rohit (40) and Lakhbir (25) were the other notable contributors.
Chasing, Kids-R-Kids were all out for seven runs in 4.4 overs. Amit took six wickets for five runs, while Rohit took three wickets for two runs.
In the fourth match, St Joseph’s School, Sector 44, defeated Government Model High School (GMHS)-43 by 68 runs.
Batting first, St Joseph’s scored 132 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Anshul made 29 runs, while Himanshu scored 15 runs. Yash added 13 runs to the total.
For GMHS-43, Divanshu took three wickets for seven runs, while Manjeet took two wickets for six runs.
Chasing the target, GMHS43 were all out for 65 runs in 19 overs.
Shavij made nine runs, while Divanshu made 10 runs.
For winners, Arshpreet took three wickets for 17 runs, while Rachil and Anshul took two wickets each for 14 and six runs, respectively.
St Kabir School-26 defeated GMSSS-35 by 67 runs in another match.
Batting first, St Kabir School made 139 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target, GMSSS-35 were all out for 72 runs.
