Dark, low-altitude clouds accompanied by winds measuring 45 kilometres per hour (KMPH) in speed rained 23.9 millimetres of water in Chandigarh. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 33.3°Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 25.2°C.

The sudden afternoon showers came as relief for many. Several youngsters could be seen enjoying the rainfall in parts of the city. The meteorological department has predicted similar weather for Sunday. "We expect more thunder and rain," said an official of the meteorological centre in Chandigarh. However, bright sunshine followed Saturday's afternoon shower.
