Tewari to seek re-election from Ludhiana LS seat

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari on Friday said he would seek re-election to the Lok Sabha from Ludhiana. His remarks came against the backdrop of reports that some senior Congress leaders were opposing his candidature for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Ludhiana.

"There is no question of moving out to any other place," he said in reply to a question at a press conference here. Tewari said that when he decided to contest from Ludhiana in 2004, he had made a long-term commitment to the people of the constituency.

The Ludhiana MP also asked the Punjab government to clarify the status of the four municipal corporations of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala and Jalandhar as to who were the Mayors and the councillors in these bodies. He said people in these four corporations were facing difficulties in terms of getting their work done from councillors.
