Three convicted for attacking police in Ramdarbar

The convicts have been identified as Rameshwar (51) and Sitaram (24), residents of Ramdarbar along with Krishan alias Angrez (20), resident of Hallomajra. The quantum of sentence would be pronounced on February 19.

The UT police had booked the trio on charges of assault, illegal confinement and criminal intimidation in May 2013. A UT police home guard volunteer, Gyan Singh was injured in the attack.

As per the police statement, a police team had reached Ramdarbar on complaint of Babli who alleged that relatives of her husband are trying to forcibly evict her from the house.

Complainant alleged that Rameshawar, who is a relative of her husband, on May 10, 2013 at about 8pm, along with two other accused, in order to evict them had started throwing her belongings from the house.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot when the accused started pelting stones following an argument in which the home guard volunteer was injured.
