Two fee structures for colleges in Punjab and Chandigarh have been announced. The difference is because of the different admission fee - on part of the overall fees -- being charged by the UT administration and the state government.
PU has asked all colleges to implement the fee structure from this academic session, and warned of action in case of non-implementation. Officials at the varsity said affiliated colleges "have been charging different, unnecessary funds from the students". A PU spokesman said that the fee structure has been "rationalised and simplified".
Apart from the main courses, the fee for add-on courses will remain same in Chandigarh colleges and those in Punjab. It would be Rs 1,200 per annum for certificate, diploma or, advance diploma courses in arts and commerce. For science add-on courses, the fees would be Rs 1,800 and lab charges Rs 600.
The fee structure for self-financing courses for the session 2013-14 has also been announced, and it is the same for colleges in Chandigarh and Punjab.
