Tremors felt in Kullu

The Kulu district experienced two slight-intensity earthquakes since Monday night within a period of less than six hours.

The Kulu district experienced two slight-intensity earthquakes since Monday night within a period of less than six hours.

A tremor, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale, was experienced at 9.53 pm on Monday evening. Another quake, of the same magnitude, was experienced in the district at 3.23 am on Tuesday morning, when people were in deep slumber.

Both the tremors had an epicentre at 31.9 degree latitude north and 77.1 degree longitude in east and a depth of 5 km in Kullu region.

Himanshu Sharma, a resident of Kullu, told HT that he felt a strong jolt on Tuesday morning as he was sleeping. Having been woken up by the jolt, he said, he rushed out of the house to avert any tragedy.
