According to sources, the suspects have been identified as Raj Kumar, an office clerk living in Sector 23, and Vikramjit Singh, a contractual employee who is a resident of Rupnagar.

According to the investigative agency, the two men had demanded a bribe from a Sector 41 resident, Mandeep, in return for issuing a death certificate of his father with alterations made in the latter’s name.

Following a complaint filed by Mandeep, CBI sleuths laid a trap in the department’s Sector 17 office and caught the suspects red handed while taking the money. The CBI later filed a criminal case under sec-tion 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against both suspects.

The duo will be produced in the court on November 21.
