Two UP natives held for drugs smuggling

The police have arrested two persons in connection with two different cases of smuggling drugs at Lalru in SAS Nagar on Wednesday. Cases have been lodged against both the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

The police have arrested two persons in connection with two different cases of smuggling drugs at Lalru in SAS Nagar on Wednesday.

Cases have been lodged against both the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

In the first case, Ramesh Ram, a native of Uttar Pradesh (UP) was arrested. The police were patrolling near the railway crossing in the city, where Ramesh was coming along with a bag containing 4-kg ganja.

Ramesh told the police that he had brought it from UP to serve on the occasion of Shivratri. The accused was booked under various
sections of the NDPS Act at Lalru police station.

In another case, Shambu Parshad, also a native of UP, was arrested on a police check-post where cops had checked him on the suspect.

The accused was carrying a bag containing 20-kg poppy husk. Shambu told the police that he had brought the narcotics from Gurgaon and he had decided to sale it here.
