These women, most of them from Andhra Pradesh, had applied for bail last week.

Two of the women accused have children, with one keeping her infant along at the Burail jail where all of them are currently lodged. Their counsel said that investigation in the case would take its own time while these women had families to look after.

The CBI had arrested seven of the women accused from exam centres on November 10, 2012, while appearing in the PGI MD entrance test. Other eight accused, including a woman, were rounded up from various city hotels while the 16th accused, a doctor, was arrested from Patna where he was found solving the question paper sent to him electronically.
