Interacting with the media on Sunday after a function here to mark the death anniversary of Maan Singh Manhera, former national general secretary of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the CM said he would thwart “the Congress attempt to divide Sikhs”.

“The Congress wants to weaken the supreme body of the Sikhs, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), just to recapture power in Haryana by resorting to divide-and-rule but the wise Sikhs voters will not be swayed,” he added.

The Sikh community of Haryana had rejected the plans for a separate gurdwara committee beforehand when they defeated the demand’s advocates in the last SGPC elections, Badal stressed.
