The Karnataka Congress will hold a protest at 300 locations in Bengaluru on Monday against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, reported news agency ANI. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar will join the protest at Bengaluru’s Trinity circle. The party has stepped up attack on the ruling BJP as the state prepares to vote in the assembly elections in a few months.

At a press meet held by Congress MLA NA Haris on Sunday evening, he said that the BJP has failed to clarify on corruption charges. “The state government is not ready to respond to the corruption charges. We have now decided to launch a protest and fight against it. Tomorrow our protest will be held at more than 300 locations in Bengaluru,” NA Haris was quoted as saying by ANI. The protest will be held simultaneously at 200 signals, 26 flyovers and 25 metro stations in Bengaluru.

The BJP, however, hit back at the Congress and said that Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are known for corruption in the state. A tweet by the Karnataka BJP read, “Congress party is talking about corruption today. Leaders who have no morals are not giving any basis for their words. They follow the old formula of lying a hundred times and pretending it to be true.”

Earlier too, the Karnataka Congress launched an attack at Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government and labelled it as "40% government", suggesting that a "40 per cent commission is sought for all that needs to be done".. In September last year, the Karnataka Congress had launched a PayCM campaign in the state and put out a QR code with Bommai’s photo in it. The accusations were made after some contractors in the state made allegations of giving 40 per cent contract amount as a bribe to officials for all state-sponsored infrastructural works. The BJP has refuted these claims several times.
