16 held for group clash in Kaithal village

: As many as 16 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a group clash and attacking a police party in Julanikhera village under Kalayat block of Kaithal district. The police have booked around 100 people in connection with a group clash that took place in Julanikhera village on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, following arguments between supporters of contenders of two candidates of Sarpanch election in the village.

The accused allegedly attacked the police party and damaged a police vehicle. The police got information regarding a clash between supporters of winner Narinder Singh and his rival Jasmer alias Babli, who lost the election, over the playing of music. As the supporters of Babli allegedly objected celebrations and playing club music by the supports of the winner.
As per the Kaithal superintendent of police, Maqsood Ahmed, a team led by assistant sub-inspector Paras arrested 16 people including Pardeep, Amit, Nirmal, Shamsher, Jasmer alias Babli, , Karamvir, Tejbir, Satish, Virbhan, Gurdayal, Joginder, Dinesh, Rohtash, Rakesh and Sonu, all residents of the same village and Parveen Kumar of Alewa village of Jind district. A police team led by deputy superintendent of police, Kalayat Sajjan Kumar reached the village and tried to pacify them but they continued with the clash and even pelted stones at police. Two police officials sustained minor injuries in the clash. As per the statement of the police officials and the villagers an FIR has been registered under Sections 148, 149, 186, 332, 353 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act against 100 persons including 39 by name.
