21-year-old held with 920 gm heroin in Moti Nagar
Police said the accused has been involved in the drug trade in the area for the last few years. The scooter used by the accused in the crime has also been impounded
A team of Punjab Police’s special task force from the Ludhiana range arrested an alleged drug peddler after recovering 920 gm heroin from his possession at a checkpoint in the Moti Nagar area.

The accused has been identified as 21-year-old Jassi Kumar, a resident of the Bhagat Singh Colony. Police said he has been involved in the drug trade in the area for the last few years. The scooter used by the accused in the crime has also been impounded.
As per the initial investigation, the accused has never previously been booked in any case.
Police said that they had received a tip-off that the accused is on his way to supply the drugs to customers in the EWS colony on Tajpur road. Acting on the same, police arrested him near Everest School in Moti Nagar.
Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge of STF Ludhiana Range, said a dope test of the accused revealed that he himself is a heroin addict. He added that a case under section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at the special task force police station in Mohali Phase-4.
Prem Vihar resident nabbed with drugs
In another incident, Dares police on Tuesday nabbed a resident of Prem Vihar after recovering 6 gm heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar.
Police said the accused was arrested by a team patrolling near the Shiv Mandir in the Daulatpur colony.
Investigating officer, Harpal Singh, said a case under sections 21, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him at the Daresi police station.
