3 cellphones, cigarettes recovered from Amritsar jail

The authorities of Amritsar central jail have recovered three mobile phones, twelve bundles of cigarettes and seven packets of tobacco during a routine checking from the prison premises.

The authorities of Amritsar central jail have recovered three mobile phones, twelve bundles of cigarettes and seven packets of tobacco during a routine checking from the prison premises, police said on Sunday.

Police have also registered a case under various Sections of the Prisons Act against some unknown persons at the Islamabad police station. The case was registered on the complaint of assistant suprintendent of the jail, Narinder Singh. He said, “Three keypad phones were recovered from the jail premises during a search. The mobiles were unclaimed. Similarly, unclaimed 12 bundles of cigarettes and 7 packets of tobacco were also recovered.” Jail sources said the mobiles and the other recovered items were thrown from outside the jail by some unidentified persons.

One mobile recovered from Goindwal jail; 3 booked

A smart mobile phone, a headphone and a charger were recovered from the barrack of Maninder Singh, Sikandar Singh and Anil Gupta in Goindwal Central Jail on Saturday. Maninder is facing an attempted murder case while Sikandar and Anil are lodged in a snatching case. The trio accused have been booked under the charges of Prisons Act at Goindwal Sahib police station.
