After a month-long battle with dense fog, the city finally experienced relief on Tuesday, enjoying a bright, sunny day with eight hours of sunshine—the highest since the gloomy conditions began on December 13.

After a month-long battle with dense fog, the city finally experienced relief on Tuesday, enjoying a bright, sunny day with eight hours of sunshine—the highest since the gloomy conditions began on December 13. During this prolonged foggy spell, at least half of the days recorded near-zero sunshine, while the remaining days saw significantly less than the 6.1-hour average.

The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 23.6 degrees Celsius, 6.3 degrees above normal for the day and the highest this month so far. This was near 10 degrees Celsius just a week ago.

The region might experience rainfall in the coming days. The India meteorological department (IMD) forecasted isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Punjab between January 22-24 in its daily bulletin.

The IMD issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm/lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) for the district for January 22-23.

However, foggy days aren’t over yet. The IMD issued a yellow alert for dense fog at isolated places till January 22.
