BJP to launch signature drive against Congress govt’s despotic decisions: Jai Ram Thakur
Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur alleged that Congress government was planning to shut HimCare, a health care scheme launched by his government, and weaken Centre-sponsored Ayushman Bharat. He was addressing a three-day state working committee of BJP that concluded at Una on Sunday.
The Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said the state BJP will launch a signature campaign against the Congress-led state government over its “despotic decision” of closing down more than 620 offices and institutions opened by the previous BJP government.
The former minister also alleged that the Congress government was planning to shut HimCare, a health care scheme launched by his government in 2019, and weaken Centre-sponsored Ayushman Bharat.
He was addressing the three-day state working committee of the BJP that concluded at Una on Sunday.
Thakur said that the vote share difference between Congress and BJP was only 0.9% and this was the government formed by the thinnest margin ever in the state.
He said that the central government has given several big projects to the state like Bulk Drugs Park, Medical Device Park and AIIMS.
He said during his government more than 5,000 km of roads were laid down in Himachal Pradesh even as the country and the state battled Covid-19 for more than two years.
Thakur claimed that since coming to power the Congress government has closed down more than 620 offices and institutions opened by the previous BJP government.
“All these offices were opened with due approval of the cabinet and the concerned departments on popular demand but were closed causing huge convenience to the public. We would fight out against this dictatorial attitude of the government and launch a state-wide signature campaign,” said the former CM.
Addressing the meeting veteran leader and former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal said that under the Congress government people’s wait for the fulfillment of the poll promises seems to be unending.
The public is still waiting for what Congress had promised whether it was Old Pension Scheme, ₹1,500 for women and all other promises, he said.
Dhumal claimed that that the BJP will register an emphatic win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections again winning all the four Lok Sabha seats in the state. He exhorted the party workers not to get disheartened by the defeat in assembly elections and gear up for the Lok Sabha polls, which are just one-and-a-half years away with full vigour.
Meanwhile, the BJP in its strategy for the Lok Sabha elections has decided to turn focus to weak booths and strengthen the local committees in such areas. Mandi Parliamentary seat, which the Congress snatched away from BJP in the byelections, would also be the focus area of the BJP apart from the Kangra parliament segment where the saffron party tasted defeat on 12 out of 17 assembly segments in the 2022 polls.
