Bride shot at within hours of marriage at Rohtak village

The bride was with her husband at a Rohtak village when three assailants came in a vehicle and fired at her, leaving her critically injured

A bride was shot at by three unidentified assailants at Rohtak’s Bhali Anandpur village here on Wednesday night, just a few hours after her marriage, said police.

In his complaint to the police, Mohan, a resident of Rohtak’s Bhali Anandpur village, said he got married to Tanishk of Sampla village on Wednesday evening. “After our marriage ceremony, I, my wife and brother Sunil were going back home. When we reached near a temple in my village, three unidentified assailants came in a vehicle and intercepted our car. They fired shots at my wife and snatched my brother’s gold chain before fleeing. My wife received serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) and her condition is critical. The assailants came in a Toyota Innova car (HR-69 A 6848),” he added.

Rakesh, in-charge of Bahu Akbarpur police station, said they have registered a case against the unidentified assailants under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 341, 34, 379-B of the Indian penal code (IPC) and sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, 1959.
