Chandigarh: Pistol, cartridges seized after firing on youth

The crime branch arrested three men in connection with the firing on a youth in Daddu Majra two days ago. Police said the shooting was carried out to settle an old rivalry. A country-made pistol and five live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Ajay alias Kunda, Aryan alias Bona, and Sagar alias Kaja, all residents of Daddu Majra colony. The incident took place a night before Diwali, when three bike-borne men opened fire on Vikas alias Batti, leaving him critically injured. He was initially admitted to GMCH-16 and later shifted to PGI, Chandigarh, for advanced treatment.

Police teams from Maloya police station and the crime branch launched an investigation and identified the suspects through CCTV footage. During interrogation, Ajay told police that he suspected Vikas’ involvement in an earlier attack on him two months ago. To take revenge, the trio targeted Vikas when they saw him alone on Sunday night and fired at him.

The accused have been handed over to Maloya police for further questioning.
