Chandigarh: Tuition teacher held for forging IAF joining letter, other documents

A tuition teacher was arrested for duping people on pretext of getting them recruited in the armed forces on Wednesday.

The case came to light on January 2, after one Vishal Kumar, turned up at the IAF’s Behlana gate saying that he had come to join the air force. They were also carrying a joining letter, identity card and coloured photocopy of a canteen smart card (liquor card), all in the name of Vishal Kumar. On scrutiny, all documents were found to be fake.
The IAF officers then traced Dhanesh,and learnt that had forged many a fraudulent identity card and false documents for criminal activities. The accused has allegedly duped 12 families on thepretext of getting their wards admitted to armed forces and central government agencies. A forged canteen stores department and dependant card was also recovered from.
The accused told the IAF officers that he was working under guidance of one Varun Srivastava, who claims to be working with the IAF.
Dhanesh was handed over to the police and a case was filed under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuables), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (uses a forged document or electronic record as genuine) and 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of Air Force Station, Chandigarh, group captain and station security officer JJ Singh.
