Chandigarh will not tolerate encroachments on govt land, says adviser
The Chandigarh adviser asked officials to demarcate government land and fence the areas to avoid further encroachments, he stressed on fencing forest land and directed officials to examine and preserve the green area
Chandigarh adviser Dharam Pal said on Thursday that the UT administration will not tolerate illegal acquisition of land and strict action will be taken against all such violations.
During a meeting with councillors of Wards 28 to 35, he asked officials to demarcate government land and fence the areas to avoid further encroachments. The adviser also stressed on fencing forest land and directed officials to examine and preserve the green area.
Councillors highlighted public grievances and sought the intervention of the administration in upgrading community centres, government schools, dispensaries, sports complexes and anganwadi centres. The adviser asked officials to complete their assignment in the stipulated time frame.
The issue of lack of parking space at many wards was also brought up. Municipal commissioner Anindita Mitra said that the pilot project for MC’s comprehensive mobility plan for Chandigarh tricity complex will be launched from Sector 35. The UT administration has also earmarked 18 sites for the parking of school and tourist buses.
The councillors requested the UT adviser to continue their one-on-one meetings to discuss and resolve these issues.
