The district crime cell of Chandigarh Police on Saturday arrested a drug peddler with 263.4 grams of heroin . The accused, Sanjay, 25, of Small Flats, Maloya, was arrested from a naka near Tagore Theatre, Sector 18.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at the Sector 19 police station. The accused was presented in court on Sunday and sent to one day in police remand. Officials said they are trying to identify who he was working for and where in the tricity he was supplying the heroin.
Workshop concludes at PGIMER
The 16th Annual Perioperative and Critical Care Echocardiography Workshop conducted by the department of anaesthesia and intensive care at the advanced cardiac centre, PGIMER, concluded on Sunday. On the final day of the conference, 2D and 3D assessment of valves, prosthetic valves, echo in ECMO and heart transplants were discussed.

Chandigarh University (CU), Gharuan, in collaboration with the University of Northern Alabama, USA, has set up a National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) coaching centre on its campus. NCLEX is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States, Canada and Australia.The centre has been set up to boost the prospects of Indian nurses seeking to study and settle abroad.
Iconic Week celebrations conclude with cycle rally
NSS, Panjab University, in collaboration with UIET organised a cycle rally to mark the end of the Iconic Week celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was attended by NSS programme officers, volunteers, faculty members and hostel residents.

Ambala-Saharanpur railway line blocked
Several residents of Tandwal and other neighbouring villages of Ambala’s Barara block on Sunday blocked the Ambala-Saharanpur rail line for hours demanding that trains stop at Tandwal railway station. Railway officials said that the train operations remained shut for a couple of hours and the protestors were assured that their demands will be met soon.
