The yatra, which was led by Chandigarh Pradesh Congress president HS Lucky, saw Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, marching with each other’s religious symbols to display the ethos of ‘unity in diversity’.

A 92-year-old resident, Baba Ram Singh, also participated in the march with the Tricolour in hand. Employee leader Dharminder Kumar, who works in an ordinance cable factory said, “It was pleasant to see people belonging to different communities walk hand-in-hand in the yatra. This is a befitting response to the divisive forces, which are spreading poison in the society,” he said.

Congress’ local block president Sukhbinder Singh thanked the locals for their “overwhelming support” to the Bharat Jodo Yatra and reiterated their resolve to fight hate mongers and communal elements.
