Effective steps being taken to make gaushalas self-reliant, says Haryana CM
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar sanctions ₹45 lakh for Brahmanand gaushala, Kurana, in Panipat district
Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday reiterated the state government’s resolve to make gaushalas self-reliant and announced ₹21 lakh for Brahmanand gaushala, Kurana, in Panipat district.
On this occasion, Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia and Rajya Sabha member Krishan Lal Panwar also announced ₹11 lakh each, and Lok Sabha MP Arvind Sharma gave ₹2.50 lakh for the gaushala.
The chief minister, who was here to attend a function, said the state government has been taking steps, such as ₹30 crore annual grant for fodder, to make the gaushalas self-reliant.
Mahagram Yojana in Kurana village
As the population of the Kurana village is more than 10,000, the CM announced giving the benefit of the ‘mahagram yojana’ to Kurana village.
Underlining the need of making the cow a means of livelihood for the farmers again, the CM said that the need of the hour is to promote indigenous breeds of cows.
The CM said that any registered gaushala in need of a grant can reach out to the government through the saral portal. He said solar power plants have been installed in 330 gaushalas in the state under the mukhyamantri gaushala jagmag yojana.
He said to encourage cattle rearing, a subsidy is being given for setting up a dairy of indigenous breeds of cows.
Khattar said the state government has implemented the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act 2015, and that a state-level special cow protection task force has been constituted to prevent cow slaughter and cow smuggling.
“The beef testing labs have been set up in Faridabad and Yamunanagar to punish the culprits of cow slaughter. Two cow shelters have been established at Panipat’s Nain village and Hisar’s Dhandhur village to keep destitute cattle,” said Khattar, calling upon the gaushala operators to emphasize the production of natural phenyl, organic manure, cow dung utensils, natural paint, pot, lamp, incense, soap and other products from cow urine and dung.
