Complainant Meenakshi Malik, 52, who runs an animal welfare NGO, told police that she had learnt of the dog’s condition from a veterinary hospital in Mohali on October 4. The hospital staff told her that someone had brought in the dog with its jaw fractured in two places and an eye injury.
As Malik was out of station at the time, she could visit the hospital only three days later to verify the information. Her inquiries led her to Highland Park Society, where she went with her team. There, she learnt from some residents that the guard had injured the dog after two members of the society told him to remove it from the premises.
