Gynaecology dept’s OPD formally inaugurated at IGMC

This was done in accordance with the directives of the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Previously, the Gynaecology OPD services were available exclusively at the Kamla Nehru State Hospital, Shimla.

The Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Department of Gynecology has been formally inaugurated and made operational today, April 1, 2026 at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla.

The Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Department of Gynaecology has been formally inaugurated and made operational on Wednesday at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla.

This was done in accordance with the directives of the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Previously, the Gynecology OPD services were available exclusively at the Kamla Nehru State Hospital, Shimla.

In a statement issued by the hospital on Wednesday, “Effective today, these OPD services will be available on the second floor of Block-A at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla. However, to ensure continued convenience for patients, the Gynecology OPD will continue to function concurrently at the Kamla Nehru State Hospital for a limited period; once the OPD at Indira Gandhi Hospital becomes fully operational, these services will be available exclusively at IGMC Shimla”.

Furthermore, a dedicated ward for the Department of Gynecology has also been established on the fifth floor of Block-B.

Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the PET-CT facility at the Cancer Hospital and Tertiary Care Center within Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, on April 2, 2026. This initiative will enable the people of Himachal Pradesh to access PET-CT services right at their doorstep. Until now, patients were required to travel to Chandigarh or other states to avail themselves of PET-CT services.
