7 mobile phones, tobacco recovered from Ludhiana Central Jail inmates
Jail staff at Ludhiana Central Jail recovered seven mobile phones and 170 gm tobacco during surprise checks after an inmate fled. Several inmates have been caught and cases have been lodged against them.
After an inmate facing trial in two cases managed to flee, the staff at the Ludhiana Central Jail increased surprise checks. The jail staff recovered seven mobile phones and 170 gm tobacco during a special checking.

In the first case, the staff nabbed Gurjant Singh, alias Janta, and Harryson Chineau and recovered two mobile phones from their possession. The jail staff had recovered mobile phone from Chineau in April 2019 also.
In the second case, the jail staff recovered two mobile phones and 170 gm tobacco from three inmates, Tarlochan Singh, alias Tochi, Rohit, alias Balu, and Gurdeep Singh, alias Deepa.
In the third case, the jail staff recovered three mobile phones from three inmates, Amit Kumar, Jatin Sharma and Sonu.
ASI Mewa Singh, who is investigating the case, said that three separate cases under Sections 52 A (1) of the Prisons Act have been lodged against the accused.
