A one-of-its-kind book fair, ‘Load the Box’ is being organised by book start-up Kitab Lovers at Lajpat Rai Bhawan in Chandigarh till July 31.

One can buy a box and fit as many books as they can in it, as long as it closes flat. The boxes are available in three sizes – the money saver at 1,100, the wealth box at 1,650, and the treasure box at 2,750.

Book lovers can pick and choose from over 10 lakh carefully curated new and pre-owned books available in multiple genres including fantasy, romance, crime, non-fiction, self-help books, young adult, children’s books, etc.

The nine-day fair is being organised by a Delhi-based start-up Kitab Lovers which specialises in selling new and pre-owned books at affordable prices. They also have book-related bookmarks, mouse pads, tote bags, fridge magnets, and badges.

One can also buy individual books at around 80% discount.

Harpreet Singh, co-founder of Kitab Lovers, said, “We are extremely happy with the kind of response we are getting during our first stint in Chandigarh.”

“At Kitab Lovers, our aim is to encourage and improve reading habit in people of all age groups and satiate their inner bibliophiles. We believe everyone should have access to quality books and that has been our main motivation behind ‘Load the Box’,” he added.

Gurleen Singh, an 18-year-old, said she loves reading classics and the exhibition has a good collection of those, including some leather-sleeved hardbound books.

Het, 20, a volunteer at the event, said, “I love books, especially non-fiction, and make it a point to read at least two books a month; so, its endearing to see fellow book lovers come together for this event.”
