Ludhiana: 120 flood-hit families get ₹1.44 crore aid in Khanna
Sond said the first instalment of ₹70,000 would be released to all eligible families soon, while the remaining amount of ₹1.20 lakh per family will be disbursed in two further instalments
Cabinet minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday handed over sanction letters worth ₹1.44 crore to 120 families from various villages in the Khanna assembly constituency whose homes were damaged by heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions earlier this year.
Sond said the first instalment of ₹70,000 would be released to all eligible families soon, while the remaining amount of ₹1.20 lakh per family will be disbursed in two further instalments linked to construction progress.
He added that the Punjab government, under chief minister Bhagwant Mann, has integrated the reconstruction programme with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), ensuring 90 days of wage employment for each beneficiary family to earn additional income while rebuilding their homes.
He also recalled that chief minister Bhagwant Mann launched the state-wide initiative in Gurdaspur on Wednesday, distributing sanction letters to over 30,000 affected families.
