Ludhiana: Domestic help arrested for stealing cash, jewellery from employer

The accused has been identified as Pooja alias Priya of New Moti Nagar.

Complainant Deepika Guleria, of Sector 32 of Chandigarh road, said that she had hired Pooja alias Priya 20 days ago for cleaning. She added that the help suddenly stopped coming to work without prior information. Meanwhile, she found out that some gold jewelry kept in her house were missing.

Subsequently, she was told by her tenant, Sadhu Singh, who lives on the ground floor of the house, that around ₹60,000 cash kept in his house had also gone missing.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jaspal Singh, who is investigating the case, said that a case under Sections 381 (theft) and 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused at the Division 7 police station. Soon after lodging the FIR, the accused was arrested.
