Ludhiana: Man injured in mysterious explosion, inquiry on

One person was injured in an explosion that occurred inside a house of Church Wali Gali on 30-Footi Road on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The injured was rushed to DMCH, where he is currently undergoing treatment and is stable. (HT photo for representation)
Police and forensic science teams reached the spot and initiated investigation.
According to station house officer, inspector Amritpal Singh Grewal, the local police received a call about the explosion. “Upon receiving the information, our team rushed to the spot and secured the area. An investigation was immediately initiated,” he said.
The injured has been identified as Inderjit Singh Ghuman, who had recently purchased the house. At the time of the incident, renovation and construction work was being carried out inside the premises. Eyewitnesses said Ghuman was lifting a bag from inside the house and placing it outside when it suddenly exploded, causing serious injuries to him.
The nature of the explosive is yet to be confirmed. Ghuman was rushed to DMCH, where he is currently undergoing treatment and is stable.
Inspector Grewal stated that the preliminary investigation suggested that the family had firecrackers stored from a celebration held few months ago and due to repair works the firecrackers exploded, adding that investigation is underway.
