Man caught with over 1kg smack in Panipat

Panipat superintendent of police (SP) Shashank Kumar Sawan said the accused revealed that he had brought the smack from the North East to sell it in Haryana and Punjab at high prices. He used to travel by bus and train to avoid checking.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Panipat police arrested a man with over 1kg smack from his possession. Police said the recovered contraband costs ₹1 crore in the market.

The accused has been identified as Nitya Nand of Nalanda, Bihar.

He added that during questioning, the accused revealed that he had brought the contraband from the North East to sell it in Haryana and Punjab at high prices. He used to travel by bus and train to avoid checking.

The accused was booked the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and produced before the court, which sent him to nine days’ police remand.

CIA-III in-charge Ankit said the accused was facing two NDPS cases – one each in Punjab and Assam.
