Man posing as buyer walks away with diamond ring from shop in Ludhiana
Following the complaint, police from Division No. 8 station on Sunday registered a case against an unidentified accused and took the CCTV footage into custody
A conman posing as a customer stole a diamond ring from a jewellery showroom on College Road in the Civil Lines area.
Assistant sub-inspector Paramjit Singh, the investigating officer, said an FIR under Section 305 of the BNS has been registered against the unidentified accused. (HT File)
According to showroom manager Tejbir Singh, the accused entered the showroom on April 1 and asked for gold rings, he was shown a tray of rings and he spent several minutes examining them. After inspecting the collection, the accused left the showroom, claiming he did not like any of the designs and would return later. At the time, no suspicion was raised.
However, during a routine stock check later in the evening, staff discovered that a diamond ring was missing. The staff reviewed the CCTV footage and it was revealed that the man slipped away the ring while pretending to examine the jewellery. Following the complaint, police from Division No. 8 station on Sunday registered a case against an unidentified accused and took the CCTV footage into custody.
