Mishap averted: Several coaches of Shan-e-Punjab train get detached near Karnal, none hurt
As per the railway officials, the incident took place at 7:50 am when the train was on its way to Amritsar and the incident triggered panic among the hundreds of passengers, but no one was hurt.
A major mishap was averted on Wednesday after several coaches of the Shan-e-Punjab Delhi-Amritsar train got separated from the train near Samalkha town of Panipat district.
As per the railway officials, the incident took place at 7:50 am when the train was on its way to Amritsar and the incident triggered panic among the hundreds of passengers, but no one was hurt.
The officials said that the train was running smoothly at its scheduled time when suddenly some coaches got separated from the engine between Diwana and Samalkha towns of the district.
The railway official said that the engine, along with some coaches, got uncoupled from 8 bogies and went ahead for some distance. The staff immediately stopped the train and a team of technicians was deployed by the railways to connect the engine to the bogies. The train left at around 8.30 am. Some passengers even recorded videos of the incident and shared them on social media.
Ghanshayam Meena, railway traffic in charge, Panipat, said that the after separating from some coaches, the engine travelled for 50 to 60m before it stopped. “It was brought back and reunited with the bogies,” he added.
