According to police, the woman was found lying dead under a bridge, with her mouth gagged, injuries on the face and strangulation marks on the neck.

Pawan Singh, sarpanch of Prempura village in Kalka, who is the complainant in the case, told the police that he was told by a resident about the body around 9.30 am on March 20, following which he alerted the cops.

Police have ruled out robbery as motive of murder, as jewellery was intact on the body. Villagers suspect that the body may have been dumped in the area after killing her.
