Plea in HC seeking release of Amritpal’s aide Kalsi

The wife of actor Sarabjit Singh alias Daljit Kalsi, the alleged financer of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, on Wednesday moved the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking his release.

The wife of actor Sarabjit Singh alias Daljit Kalsi, the alleged financer of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, on Wednesday moved the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking his release.

The habeas corpus plea from Narinder Kaur was taken up by the bench of justice NS Shekhawat, but posted the matter for March 28 on her lawyer’s request.

According to the government, Kalsi has been taken into custody and is in Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam. He was arrested from Gurugram by Punjab Police and is stated to be a “financer” of Amritpal.

She has sought quashing of detention order passed by the district magistrate on a plea from the Punjab government under the National Security Act, 1980. The plea claims he has been confined in illegal custody without following the due process of law.
