Police on Saturday raided a lounge bar in Sector 5, Panchkula, and arrested its manager for serving hookah to the customers there.

During the raid, police recovered three burning hookahs, 11 empty hookahs and golden molasses of mint flavour with nicotine. A case under Sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease danger­ous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.

DCP Sumer Pratap Singh said the raids were conducted following complaints of serving hookah in different clubs and lounges of the city. He said the raids went on for around three hours, and management of several clubs were warned for playing music at high volume.
