PSPCL snaps supply to BJP office in Sangrur over ₹1.37 lakh unpaid bill
PSPCL executive engineer Varinder Deepak said action has been taken against all the customers who have over ₹50,000 in outstanding dues.
The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has disconnected the electricity supply to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sangrur here over outstanding dues amounting to ₹1.37 lakh.
PSPCL executive engineer Varinder Deepak said action has been taken against all the customers who have over ₹50,000 in outstanding dues.
“We cut the connections after compiling a list of defaulting amounts,” he said.
Sub-divisional officer, Pankaj Garg, said that the pending amount dates back to January this year.
“The BJP office had made only two-part payments in 2025, 20,000 on March 20 and ₹30,000 on October 6. The entire bill for 2025 is pending. Moreover, the pendency dates back to October 2024,” Garg said. He added that the total outstanding amount now stands at ₹1,37,630.
Garg further disclosed that various defaulters in Sangrur city owe PSPCL close to ₹1.5 crore.
BJP vice president Arvind Khanna said he was not aware of the matter. BJP’s district president, Dharminder Singh, played down the incident and said these things happen as funds are not collected on time.
