Dagar had arranged two shooters of the Haryana module of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to carry out Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder last May. The special investigation team chargesheet had stated that Dagar arranged Priyavrat Fauji and Ankit Sersa when he was lodged in Faridkot jail.

Jail officials recovered the latest model of a Samsung touchscreen mobile phone without SIM card from Dagar.

“Criminals in jails often use SIM cards to download specific mobile applications on their phones to make encrypted calls instead of direct calls, reducing the chances of being traced through the device’s IMEI number. They remove the SIM from their phones and use Wi-Fi hotspots,” said a police official requesting anonymity.

Six phones recovered from high-security zone in jail

Despite being lodged in the high-security zone of Faridkot jail, the availability of mobile phones for gangsters raises a concern as they have been running operations from behind bars while police have no clue.

Assistant jail superintendent Ranjit Singh said that prison officials recovered six mobile phones from jail inmates in the high security zone.

More mobile phones were recovered from other spots in the jail. Police said four of them were thrown inside the jail packed inside balls.

A case was registered against Dagar besides Parbat Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Varinder Kumar, Ranjit Mani and Lovepreet Singh at the Faridkot city police station.
