Punjab: Two injured in firing at Hoshiarpur tehsil complex

Firing triggers panic; both men, who are in stable condition, had argument before gunshots were fired

Panic gripped the tehsil complex in Hoshiarpur on Tuesday when firing broke out around noon, injuring two persons, who are said to be property dealers.

According to eyewitnesses, both men had a heated argument following which the gunshots were fired.

One of the injured, Dheeraj Kumar of the local Vijay Nagar, was rushed to the civil hospital, while the other person, Deepak Kumar of New Fatehgarh, was admitted to a private hospital.

The condition of both was stated to be stable.

Deputy superintendent of police (city) Palwinder Singh said that so far only one weapon has been recovered.

“We are verifying how the other person received the bullet injury,” the DSP said.
