Six criminals planning murder caught with arms in Jalandhar

The accused have 18 criminal cases registered against them and were planning to kill a local sarpanch’s nephew, said the Jalandhar Rural SSP

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Jalandhar Rural, Swarandeep Singh said that a team led by Goraya station house officer Harinder Singh conducted the raid following a tip-off.

The accused, identified as Anoop Bangar, Vishal Bassi, Jatinder Singh, Manveer Singh, Parijan Kumar, and Surinder Singh, have 18 criminal cases registered against them. They were planning to kill a local sarpanch’s nephew, said the SSP.

“The raiding party recovered two 7.65 mm pistols with three magazines, a .32 mm and .315 mm gun, two sharp-edged weapons, seven mobile phones and two two-wheelers from the suspects. They confessed that they had gathered at the house to plan the murder of Panshta village sarpanch’s nephew Kulwant Singh, with whom they had a tiff,” said the SSP.

A case has been registered under Section 115 (abetment of offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life) of the Indian Penal besides under the Arms Act.
