String of traffic offences land biker ₹22,500 fine in Panchkula

Caught violating multiple traffic rules during a surprise check in Kharak Mangoli village near Sector 1, a motorcyclist was slapped with a staggering ₹22,500 challan on Wednesday.
According to police, the rider, identified as Sourav, a resident of Manimajra, was stopped around 1 pm and could not produce any valid vehicle-related document.
Additionally, the motorcycle did not have a proper number plate, with several letters and numbers missing.
Considering the serious violations, police issued a challan of ₹22,500 on the spot, including ₹10,000 for missing pollution certificate, ₹5,000 for missing registration certificate, ₹5,000 for driving without licence, ₹2,000 driving without insurance and ₹500 for improper number plate. The vehicle was subsequently impounded as the rider failed to pay the fine.
Advising commuters to comply with traffic rules, Traffic (City) SHO Varinder Kumar said a special drive was being carried out in the city against violations such as driving without documents, without proper number plates and speeding.
