Himachal gets 119% excessive rains in a week
Himachal received 65.3mm rainfall against a normal of 29.8% from June 22 to 28, as per the Indian meteorological department data. Solan has got highest 264% excessive rains followed by 248% in Mandi and Hamirpur 180%. Nine of the 12 districts except Lahaul-Spiti (-80%), Una (-34%) and Kinnaur (-5%) recorded surplus rains.
Himachal Pradesh has recorded 119% surplus rainfall in last one week, owing to the monsoon, especially after the onset of monsoon on June 24.

Director of IMD’s Shimla Centre Surender Paul said the intensity of monsoon has reduced since Tuesday and the state experienced moderate to light rainfall.
The wet spell is likely to continue till July 2 with a yellow alert for rains, thunderstorm and lightening in isolated places for next five days.
In rain-related incidents, a shepherd was injured, and his 60 sheep and goats perished due to a lightning strike at a high hill in Manikaran area of Kullu. The injured shepherd has been identified as Sonu Kumar of Gadgi village.
Deputy director (animal husbandry) Vishal Sharma said a team of the department would visit the spot to assess the losses.
In Solan, a five-storey residential building collapsed due to water seepage. No loss of life has been reported.
Solan deputy commissioner Manmohan Sharma visited the spot to assess the situation. He said the building has been acquired by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for road construction and compensation has been paid. However, the owners suffered huge losses as he had yet not vacated the premises. As per the State Emergency Operation Cell of the Disaster Management Authority, 47 roads were still blocked for traffic in the state. Several water supply schemes also need repair due to damage caused by heavy rains and floods.
