Crimes against girl child in MP: 4-year-old raped, teenager kills self over sexual harassment
The 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide as she was sexually harassed by a boy in her village in Damoh district — second such incident in a week; meanwhile, a Class 12 student has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting the four-year-old.
A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in Damoh district due to alleged sexual harassment by a boy from the same area. This is second such case in last one week in which a girl has committed suicide due to alleged sexual harassment in the state.
The incident took place in Madiyado village in Hatta tehsil of Damoh district.
Madiyado police station in charge Ashok Nimama told HT that the parents of the girl filed a complaint in the form of an affidavit on Sunday.
“In the affidavit, parents have claimed that on September 6 when they returned home from their farm, they found their daughter lying in a semi-unconscious state,” Nimama said .
Nimama said when the girl resumed consciousness, she told her parents that a local boy was harassing her and tried to rape her finding her alone. “They took their daughter to the community health centre at Hatta, from where she was referred to Damoh district hospital. There she died on the same day”, he said.
In a similar incident, on September 5, frustrated by harassment, a teenage girl allegedly committed suicide by immolating self in Sagar district. The girl was admitted to Bundelkhand Medical College Sagar where she succumbed to injuries. She said she took the step because she was frustrated and hurt due to sexual harassment by a village boy.
Meanwhile in Bhopal’s Awadhpuri area, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old. The parents lodged a complaint when they came to know about the incident late Saturday evening. According to the Awadhpuri Police, the parents told them that their daughter was playing near their house and when she returned, she was crying . On Saturday, the girl started complaining to her mother about the pain in her private parts. She told her mother that a Class 12 boy, who lives nearby, “sexually assaulted” her. The police arrested the boy on Sunday and registered a case.
