Delhi assembly winter session to start with LG address on Jan 5, says speaker
The Delhi Legislative Assembly's Winter Session is set for January 5-8, 2026, with a paperless format and a nine-day Ram Katha event from January 17-25.
The Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will be held from January 5 to 8, 2026, speaker Vijender Gupta announced on Friday. The session will commence with an address by Delhi lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

Gupta said that a formal notification has been issued for the session to be convened.
“Coordination among different branches of the Assembly Secretariat is underway to facilitate uninterrupted legislative and procedural work. Several official papers are proposed to be tabled during the session, and the Secretariat has put in place the necessary logistical arrangements for the same,” he added.
He said that the assembly will be going fully paperless this session onwards and the office is prepared to handle the technological upgrade.
Gupta also shared details of a major cultural and spiritual programme scheduled to be held in January. He said a nine-day Ram Katha will be organised from January 17 to 25 at Bharat Mandapam. The event will feature discourses by noted Ram Katha exponent Morari Bapu. The programme is being organised under a World Peace Mission with a focus on peace, non-violence and social harmony.
